View of Central Park From the Museum is a painting I made about one of my favorite parts of NYC; Central Park.
For starters, it’s a beautiful patch of green in the middle of a concrete jungle. But on top of this, Central Park remains to be one of my first introductions to NYC when I first started living there at the beginning of my undergraduate career. Not only did it become a place that I spent time with the people who I now consider my closest of friends, but it’s also where I sketched the Bethesda Fountain for the first time, a moment I first discovered how much I love both nature and sculpture.
Another reason for painting this is to honor the devastating history behind how Central Park came to be, specifically in reference to the demolition of Seneca Village. I think it’s important to talk about, and my ulterior motive behind this painting is to mention this bit of history that is often unknown of or forgotten behind the beauty that Central Park is today.

Memories of Florence, Sunset on the Arno River
A painting I made after studying abroad in Florence, Italy, for a semester. When I came back all I could think about for a while was how much I missed everything. From the food, to the history, all the way to the walks over the Arno. Admiring the sunset while crossing the river with the intention of getting pizza from our favorite restaurant.

What Do You Think Happened?
My goal with this painting was to expand on the concept of perspective. How not everyone sees the same thing, even when they look at the same image. While painting this, I did my best to put a lack of specific effort into a lot of details. I didn’t want my viewers to know what I was thinking while painting it, but rather, have them put their own meaning behind my piece.
I’m honored to say that this painting was recently featured on the cover page of the 30th edition of the PTK Nota Bene Magazine.
